The Ruined Sovereign

Dramatic role (brief §8.6)

Versions in which the protagonist achieved maximal social control. Demonstrates the final psychological endpoint before the current branch reaches it.

Entity nature (brief §7.4)

Each entity is a compressed family of related histories. One may contain versions who became famous, weaponized it, cured dementia at terrible cost, died in the garage, or transferred the pattern into institutions and machines. The preserved invariant is not the protagonist’s face or biology but a deeper behavioral topology: recursive modeling, curiosity, control, and repeated construction of the projector.

Recognition through private invariants (brief §7.7)

The reveal should accumulate through private invariants rather than arrive as a cosmic announcement. An entity uses the exact hand movement he makes while mentally stepping through code. Another reconstructs a childhood room with different parents. Several share a scar, a shame response, or the structure of a private comment in source code.

Established continuity (Chapters 11 and 17)

• During P-02 and P-03, Evan observes a broad, bright, almost static peripheral form organized around a central closure with no visible internal disagreement.
• In the deepest arm of the blinded motor attribution study, the form enters the foreground. Its faces, apparent names, titles, and social settings vary, while five distinct bands consistently enter one central closure and emerge as a single decision.
• Every rendered body lowers its shoulders when the fifth band closes, matching Evan's private relief response during his first clarity interval and the successful escrow reconstruction.
• It offers no advice and asks no question. Evan provisionally names it the Ruined Sovereign because its apparent control is complete only after the capacity for internal disagreement has been lost.

Established continuity (Chapter 19)

• The Sovereign's borrowed faces, titles, settings, and apparent body are no longer recoverable under D-01.
• Five distinct inputs entering one closed rotation and leaving as a single output remain coupled to live accepted consequence rather than inert replay.
• Evan's shoulder-release response persists in the observer, not the form; the retained closure is a candidate invariant rather than a fundamental-law claim.
